i’m so excited! your senior photo session day is almost here!
Here is some information about what to expect on the day of your senior photo session and how to prepare to ensure your day is nothing short of amazing!
before your senior photo session
The day before your session, lay out all of your clothes to ensure you have everything. This includes properly fitting undergarments that don’t show, shoes, and accessories. Best practice is to have this all figured out before your session so when we get to the location, we don’t have to spend shooting time on this.
Make sure to drink plenty of water in the days before your shoot. Water makes your skin glow and staying hydrated is important, especially for those hot Summer senior photo sessions.
Get a good night’s sleep before your senior photo session.
Make sure your fingernails and toenails are presentable. Unkept nails do show up in photos and are not something that I correct in Photoshop.
hair and makeup prep
All of the hair and makeup artists that I work with know how to provide natural makeup looks and curls that hold up in the Kansas wind. If you have a specific look that you are interested in, please bring some inspo photos.
Be sure to wear a loose shirt with a large neck hole or a button up for easy removal after your makeup application.
Wash your face and apply a hydrating moisturizer the morning of your senior photo session. The foundation will apply more evenly if your face is prepped and ready before any color is applied.
Wash and dry but don’t style your hair before your senior photo session. If you would like your hair curled, make sure to not straighten your hair as this affects the ability of your hair to be curled.
during your session
When you arrive at my place, you can leave all of your clothes in the car. You’ll be following me around town in your own vehicle. I’ll provide a detailed schedule before your shoot that includes location information in case we get separated.
We’ll spend 30-45 minutes at each location. This includes time to change and get setup.
I’ll play music from Spotify at your session. If you would like to create a playlist, great!
I have a changing tent that I’ll set up when we arrive at each location. Most of my clients use this changing tent or change in their car between locations, your choice.
I’ll let you know if a location has a restroom. If you need a restroom break at any point, just let me know!
I’ll bring a cooler with bottled water.
I’ll be posting BTS on Instagram if you or your friends/family would like to follow along.
My camera automatically detects your eyes so don’t be afraid to move at your session.
after your session
We’ll set up a time for you to come back in the same week to see your images. You’ll be able to pick your favorites for final edits and see all of the unique products I have.
I’ll post at least one sneak peek on Instagram within 24 hours.
I’ll also send a questionnaire to the senior with 3 easy questions about your experience. Complete the questionnaire and I’ll post additional sneak peeks on Instagram!
i’ll be there to guide you through every pose and prompt during your senior photo session.
I recommend watching at least one of these videos to better prepare, especially if you have not been in front of a camera before. They all contain great advice and, if you’re like me, I’m always less nervous when I feel more prepared!
